PRESS RELEASE
DIGITAL EDUCATION READINESS THROUGH GAMIFICATION: RELEASE OF THE INNOVATIVE GAMIFIED E-LEARNING PLATFORM OF THE SPARKS PROJECT
30 December 2022 - The international consortium of the Sparks Project, Strategic Partnership co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU, released to the public an innovative Gamified E-Learning Platform, a tool designed to innovate the landscape of education through the power of gamification. After pilot tests with over 300 teachers, trainers and students in Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain, the platform is now available in English, Greek, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish at https://app.projectsparks.eu/register.html.
The platform, whose development was ledthe Italian Innovative SME Lascò, seeks to make learning fun and more engaging for students of all fields of vocational education and training. Sparks is the first completely free platform dedicated to VET teachers and trainers that enables them to independently create a gamification-based program without experience and technical expertise. Sparks makes it possible to create, deliver and manage comprehensive programs through ready-to-use templates, requiring teachers and trainers only to enter the information and training content to be delivered. The platform generates the program and provides the tools to manage the entire e-learning experience.
Although it was designed mainly for and with vocational teachers and trainers, the platform could potentially be used by any organization in the Education and Training sector, incl. non-formal. In accordance with the findings of the testers' evaluations, the platform enables the increase in the quality and effectiveness of distance learning practices of VET providers, the confidence of VET teachers and trainers in their online teaching practices, the attractiveness of VET providers' e-learning programs and VET students' involvement and motivation in distance learning.
The consortium is currently developing also a set of support resources and tools: e-learning modules and video tutorials for teachers and trainers, a user manual for learners, and use cases for instructors and trainers. These resources aim to equip educators with the necessary knowledge and know-how to effectively deliver creative and engaging online and remote learning experiences through gamification.
